Superstar linebacker DeMarcus Ware announced his retirement on Twitter Monday afternoon after a lengthy NFL career. Ware was a 9-time Pro Bowler, 4-time first-team All-Pro, and a Super Bowl champion with the Broncos in Super Bowl 50.

Ware’s tweet included images of him from both of his teams, with his announcement, thanking everyone along his journey.

Ware’s 138.5 career sacks speak for themself — there’s a very, very good chance the veteran will be a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer when it’s all said and done. He is one of only three players ever with 11+ sacks in 7 straight seasons.

After notching 10 sacks in his first Broncos season, Ware’s productivity took a bit of a hit, though not by much. Ware still managed to tally 11.5 sacks over the past two seasons, despite playing in only 22 games.

While 2016 was statistically the worst year in Ware’s 12-year career, a lot of the lack of productivity came from his missing six games. He remarkably only missed 14 games in his lengthy career. He’s only missed one or more games in three of his 12 years pro. That’s spectacular, no matter how you put it.
