On Friday night, the USA squad fell into a deep hole to start its game against Puerto Rico. The first six hitters for Puerto Rico hit singles, and the first out of the inning resulted in an RBI sacrifice fly that made it 4-0 at the time. Needless to say, it wasn’t the start that Marcus Stroman and the rest of the Americans were looking for in this crucial tilt.
Puerto Rico sends the USA into a win-or-go-home situation
Saturday’s Say Hey, Baseball is gearing up for a huge clash between Team USA and the Dominican Republic. Plus, if a no-hitter happens during spring training, did it really happen?

Despite the best efforts of Adam Jones and Buster Posey at the plate, the early deficit ended up being too big of a hole for USA to claw its way out of. After the Puerto Ricans were able to take advantage of an error from Nolan Arenado to add two more runs to their tally, this eventually ensured that Yadier Molina, Carlos Beltran, Francisco Lindor, and the rest of the talented Puerto Rico squad would punch their tickets to the championship rounds in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, if you enjoyed the amazing USA/Dominican Republic clash in Miami last weekend, then you’re going to be in for a treat this weekend. The result of the USA/Puerto Rico game on Friday night has basically turned tonight’s game into a loser-goes-home contest. The first game between these two teams was one of the best of the early pool rounds. Now that the stakes are even higher, we should be in for some intense action this evening.
