Joel Embiid’s rookie year didn’t last long. He played 31 games to be exact, before a small tear in his meniscus ended his stellar rookie season early.
Joel Embiid’s injuries were highlighted in a hilarious new Jolly Rancher commercial
Thankfully, Embiid’s a good sport.

Apparently, that season lasted just as long as a Jolly Rancher:
In its new commercial, the Jolly Rancher team took a lighthearted jab at Embiid’s injury history.
“And now, hailing from Cameroon. Sitting out his first two seasons for boo boos,” the announcer says. “And now out for the season after we shot this commercial. With a rookie year lasting longer than a Jolly Rancher, Joel ‘The Process’ Embiid.”
Our own 76ers blog Liberty Ballers caught up with Embiid right after his commercial shoot, where the 7’0 center says he ate close to 50 Jolly Ranchers during his time under the bright lights.
Embiid is a good sport as detailed in this Q&A after his SLAM Magazine cover photoshoot. But Jolly Rancher threw a few elbows at a guy who’s shown the potential to be one of the league’s most dominant players, provided he stays healthy.
And if he can’t stay healthy? Well, the 76ers might just need to adopt the hashtag #KeepOnSucking.
