With eight of nine ACC teams now out of the 2017 NCAA tournament, we decided to hold an impromptu memorial remembering the good times of teams like:
2017 NCAA tournament: A very emotional ACC funeral
It’s important to speak well of the departed, so we really did try our best.
• Louisville, who, after an up-and-down offensive season, lost to Michigan late
• Virginia Tech, who, just in making the tournament, did a good thing and we can never overstate the importance of good attendance
• Virginia, who scored nearly 40 points (!) in a single game, probably to help the scoreboard operator from overexerting in a high-pressure situation
• Duke, who entered the tournament as arguably the hottest team in the country after an impressive run through the ACC tournament, selflessly got out of the way of South Carolina, one of the tournament’s better stories
• Miami, who allowed schools inarguably located in worse places to shine
• Notre Dame, who strategically played shorter players to make things a bit easier for the many challenges that tall people already have navigating this world
... and more!
