Atlanta Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer has been suspended one game for making contact with an official in a game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, according to The Vertical’s Chris Mannix. He will miss the team’s Sunday matchup against an Eastern Conference foe in the Indiana Pacers.
Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer suspended one game for bumping a referee
This is his second time bumping an official.

In the third quarter of the Hawks’ 135-130 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, Budenholzer bumped an official after LeBron James got away with a perceived push-off on Kent Bazemore. He was given a technical foul but was not ejected from the game.
Atlanta rallied from down 14 but eventually fell to the defending champions in a high-scoring showdown.
Friday’s altercation was not Budenholzer’s first run-in with a referee.
In November of 2015, the Hawks’ coach was tossed from a game (also against Cleveland) for arguing with, then bumping a referee after a no-call on a driving player.
Hopefully, this doesn’t become a trend for Budenholzer.
