Ex-Nuggets and current Kings point guard Ty Lawson has allegedly failed three alcohol tests, violating his probation terms from a drunk driving conviction in 2015, according to the Denver Post.

A bench warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Lawson, who signed a one-year deal with the Sacramento Kings over the summer, tested positive for alcohol on Sept. 27, Sept. 29, and Feb. 2, according to the Post. The Kings had no games scheduled on those dates, but played on Jan. 31, Feb. 3, and Feb. 4.

Lawson also failed to honor the 48-hour community service requirement of his probation, according to the Post, and did not receive the required 52 hours of therapy. He is scheduled for a probation violation revocation hearing on March 22 in Denver, according to the Post.

After a down 2015-16 season, Lawson is averaging 9.3 points, 4.6 assists, and a steal through 51 games in Sacramento. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.

Lawson’s problems with alcohol abuse go back several years

On Jan. 23, 2015, Lawson was charged with driving under the influence after being pulled over for driving 61 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone, according to the Post. The arresting officer said his “breath had a strong odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage, balance was swaying/stumbling, eyes were bloodshot/watery.”

He pleaded guilty to driving while ability impaired and failing to drive in a single lane, and admitted to drinking before driving, according to FOX31 Denver.

On July 14, 2015, Lawson was arrested and charged with driving under the influence for speeding in Hollywood at 2 a.m. He was released on bail five hours later, according to ESPN.com.

It was his second DUI charge in a six-month span and fourth arrest in two years. He was also arrested in 2008 for driving under the influence as a student at North Carolina, per the Post.

Lawson was also arrested in January 2013 after failing to appear in court for a non-drug/alcohol driving citation. In August of the same year, he was charged with physical harassment and criminal mischief from a domestic violence incident.

Both he and his girlfriend were arrested as a result of the incident.
