Gonzaga defeats South Carolina to advance to National Championship: Scores, highlights, and news from Final Four

Relive the game as Gonzaga defeated South Carolina in the National Semifinal of the NCAA Tournament.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs and South Carolina Gamecocks kicked off the Final Four on Saturday night in Phoenix, Arizona. Both teams are making their first ever appearance in the Final Four. Gonzaga, a one-seed in the tournament will wear home white as seven-seed South Carolina tries to continue their Cinderella run in the tournament.

8:20 — FINAL: Gonzaga 77, South Carolina 73

8:14 — With 12.7 seconds remaining, Gonzaga leads 75-72. South Carolina will get the ball back and a chance to tie.

8:07 — Gonzaga holds on to a two-point lead with 2:09 remaining. South Carolina will get the ball back after a long review from the referees on an out of bounds call.

7:59 — Gonzaga makes a 7-0 run of their own led by Przemek Karnowski and now lead 72-67 with less than five minutes to go.

7:50 — WE HAVE A TIE GAME AT 65. 7:39 left to go and South Carolina is on a 14-0 run. GET READY FOR A WILD FINISH!

7:45 — South Carolina shows some life! The Gamecocks just went on a 8-0 to get within six points. Gonzaga leads 65-59 with 9:37 left. WHERE IS DARIUS RUCKER.

7:38 — Gonzaga is starting to pull away in the second half. After back to back three-pointers, the Bulldogs lead 62-48 with 11:20 left in the second half.

7:29 — Somehow Nigel Williams-Goss is okay after this! He tightened his shoes at the break but did not need any help from the training staff. WOW.

6:55 — At the half, Gonzaga leads 45-36 at the half. The Bulldogs went on a 14-5 run in the final five minutes, shooting 58 percent from the field.

6:44 — Gonzaga’s Przemek Karnowski was forced to head to the locker after being poked in the eye. The CBS broadcast said that Karnowski was unable to focus with his right eye.

6:36 — Silas Melson says absolutely not to Rakym Felder!

6:27 — Gonzaga is shooting 52 percent from the field so far in the first half but only have a two point lead over South Carolina 20-18 with 9:18 remaining in the first.

6:15 — At the first TV timeout, Gonzaga leads 8-7 over South Carolina with 15:54 left in the first half.

6:05 — The National Anthem kicked off the night’s festivities with a student athlete singing from each school in the Final Four.
