Joe Johnson bounces in a buzzer-beater as Jazz steal Game 1
Iso Joe came up big down the stretch to steal Game 1 in Los Angeles.
The veteran Johnson got an isolation against Jamal Crawford and took him to the rack for a buzzer-beating floater over DeAndre Jordan’s outstretched arms to lead the Utah Jazz to a 97-95 win over the Los Angeles Clippers in Game 1 on Saturday.
Johnson said during his walk-off interview that the one-on-one with Crawford was what he wanted. He finished with 21 points on nine-of-14 shooting, but no shot was as big as his hanging floater as time expired. Our hat’s off to Jazz head coach Quin Snyder for opting not to call a timeout after Chris Paul’s layup tied the game at 95-95 with just 13 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
Behind Johnson’s game-winner, the Jazz stole a game on the Clippers’ home floor. They did it without Rudy Gobert, who left the game with a knee injury 11 seconds into the first quarter.
