Oregon’s Jordan Bell apologized for missing rebounds, and the internet tried to cheer him up

March Madness anguish, but maybe a bright spot too.

On Saturday night, down one with under five seconds to go, Oregon forward Jordan Bell barely missed corralling two crucial rebounds following failed North Carolina free throws. The Tar Heels left the door open by missing four free throws in the final five seconds, but the Ducks couldn’t bring in a rebound to have a shot to win.

Nobody took it harder than Bell, who had put together a heck of a game on the boards for the Ducks. He said he didn’t want to face his teammates after the game. But none of them blamed him.

In fact, they all took the blame while singling out Bell’s play throughout the tournament.

Bell even tweeted an apology.

And everyone tried to cheer him up.

It goes on and on and on, a barrage of tweets thanking him and trying to make him feel better. It’s pretty cool.*

*Please don’t ruin this.

And those tweets are right: Without Bell in the paint, Oregon probably doesn’t make the tournament run it did. He had 16 rebounds against North Carolina. Take that away, and Oregon probably isn’t in the position it is to end the game.
