Dion Waiters can’t get any quotes right

Waiters lost a lot of weight this season because he was able to “truth the process” in Miami.

Dion Waiters has lost a lot of weight. Since joining the Miami Heat as a free agent last summer, Waiters has visibly shed some of the flab around his core. He took a before and after picture that proved as much and posted it on Snapchat.

But he did one little thing wrong:

On the left is when I first got to Miami, on the right is how I finished. Truth the process.

Truth the what?

We think he meant “Trust the Process,” a phrase coined in Philadelphia as 76ers’ standout Joel Embiid emerged from back-to-back season-ending surgeries as leading Rookie of the Year candidate. But the “S” and “H” are nowhere near each other on the QWERTY keyboard.

This is very Dion of Dion Waiters.

Waiters has had his fair share of botched quotes this season.

Early in the year after he stuck the Nets with a cold-blooded dagger three-pointer, Waiters harkened back to one of his favorite quotes — a quote so embedded in his mind, he couldn’t even remember it.

Reporter: “You always hear about guys in the zone. What’s it like to be in that zone and have that moment two games in a row?”

Waiters: “I love that moment. You can never shy away from that. I just feel though, like — one of my favorite quotes is, uh ... I forgot it already. One of my favorite quotes. But yeah, man, you just can’t be afraid to take them shots.”

And later on in the year, Waiters had a rough shooting night, missing eight of his last nine shots in a win, again, over the Nets. This time, he got a quote right. He just didn’t credit the author.

”I’d rather go 0 for 30 than 0 for 9 because you go 0 for 9 that means you stopped shooting,” Waiters told reporters . “That means you lost confidence.”

That sounded a lot like what Kobe Bryant told Gotham Chopra, the director of the movie “Kobe Bryant’s Muse.”

Deron Williams went like 0-for-9. I was like, ‘Can you believe Deron Williams went 0-9?’ Kobe was like, ‘I would go 0-for-30 before I would go 0-for-9. 0-for-9 means you beat yourself, you psyched yourself out of the game, because Deron Williams can get more shots in the game. The only reason is because you’ve just now lost confidence in yourself.’”

It’s alright, Dion. You’ll eventually get the whole quote thing down. Just keep truthing the process.
