NFL draft 2017: Updating best available players as picks are made

We’ll keep you up to date with the best available players through the draft as picks are made.

The 2017 NFL Draft is officially in the books, but we’ve got you covered with our running list of the best available players who didn’t get selected. If you are unsure about who went where, check out our tracker.

More NFL Draft Coverage

Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett, who was drafted by the Cleveland Browns with the first overall pick, is the obvious No. 1 on our list. The Chicago Bears traded up to the No. 2 slot and drafted quarterback Mitch Trubisky, a move a lot of people questioned.

Other players like Jonathan Allen, Jamal Adams, and Malik Hooker were first round selections, which most anticipated. Washington used the No. 17 pick on Allen to strengthen its pass rush. The New York Jets drafted Adams with the sixth pick to bolster their secondary, and the Indianapolis Colts selected Hooker at No. 15.

Indeed, this is a defense-heavy class. But a lot of offensive players left in the first round, too. The Jacksonville Jaguars needed a game-changer at the running back position, so they used the No. 4 pick on Leonard Fournette. The Carolina Panthers selected Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey at No. 8, and the Los Angeles Chargers supplied quarterback Philip Rivers with a big-bodied receiver by drafting Mike Williams with the 7th pick.

SB Nation’s Dan Kadar ranked the top 100 players for us, and they were all drafted. But just like every year, there will be plenty of talented undrafted free agents who will sign with teams after the draft is over. We’ll update who is signing where with our handy undrafted free agent tracker.

In fact, teams are already signing undrafted free agents. For example, the Green Bay Packers recently signed BYU quarterback Taysom Hill, and Baltimore Ravens added Minnesota quarterback Mitch Leidner.
