Joel Embiid has become a multisport phenomenon, now with football fans referencing the tagline that has jolted the Philadelphia 76ers back to relevancy.
Philly showered Joel Embiid with ‘Trust the Process’ chants at the NFL draft
Embiid’s presence stretches across two sports now.

Embiid appeared at the NFL draft in Philly on Thursday and being the social media maven he is, decided to post some videos of his trip on his Instagram story. That prompted nearby fans to erupt, chanting: “Trust the Process!”
“The Process” has done the 76ers well. With Embiid playing in just 31 games, Philly won 28 this season, nearly tripling its win total (10) from the 2015-16 season. Embiid averaged 20 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game, far and away numbers that made him the league’s most dominant rookie until a minor torn meniscus ended his season early.
That same process also landed Dario Saric in a 76ers uniform and has Ben Simmons ready to go for next season. The Sixers enjoyed relative success last season, and the outlook for the near future is bright.
The same can’t be said for the Philadelphia Eagles, who have finished 7-9 two seasons in a row, regressing from back-to-back 10-6 seasons in 2013 and 2014.
While some believe the Eagles will return to the playoffs this season, recent history hasn’t been on their side. Luckily, the process is an equal opportunity employer. Maybe the Sixers can rub off some of that positive energy onto their friends across town next season.
