The Nashville Predators needed three tries to get a game-winning goal in their 2-1 victory over Anaheim Ducks in Game 3 after the first two didn’t count. The referees waived off back-to-back goals, which came in a matter of seconds, for goalie interference in the third period. It’s hard to argue with either call.
Predators scored 2 goals just seconds apart, and neither of them counted
They took the term “crashing the goalie” a little too literally, and got busted for back-to-back goalie interference penalties.

The first goal came from forward Colton Sissons, but linemate Harry Zolnierczyk knocked over goalie John Gibson in the crease for a penalty.
Just seconds after play resumed, the Predators won the puck again and started another break with their players crashing toward the net. This time, Mattias Ekholm plowed into Gibson to earn a goalie interference call, much to the dismay of the fans at Bridgestone Arena.
That’s two goals immediately waived off by the referees, one after another. Luckily, the third time was the charm for the Predators, who got the game-winner from Roman Josi in the final minutes of regulation to win Game 3 over the Ducks. Nashville now leads 2-1 in the Western Conference Final.
