Hue Jackson is the 1st person to say something nice about Brock Osweiler since Brock Osweiler

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anyone compliment Osweiler.

Nobody really has high hopes for Brock Osweiler in Cleveland. Still, Browns head coach Hue Jackson said the nicest thing we’ve heard about Osweiler all year.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anyone praise Osweiler.

Sashi Brown really just wanted a draft pick

When the Browns made the trade with the Texans to acquire him, general manager Sashi Brown mostly seemed excited about everything but Osweiler.

“We’re really excited to acquire a second-round draft choice in this trade,” Brown said.

Hue Jackson wasn’t this nice in March

And Jackson didn’t have much faith in Osweiler when he spoke to the media at the owners’ meetings back in March.

“And I’m not saying that we can’t make something out of Brock Osweiler,” Jackson said at the owners meetings. “Maybe we can.”

Steve Smith didn’t hold back at all

Steve Smith didn’t mince words about Osweiler on NFL Network before the draft. He actually didn’t hold back about Cleveland, either, saying that the Texans “gave (Osweiler) to the Goodwill,” meaning the Browns.

“Anybody is better than Brock Osweiler,” Smith said.

At least Osweiler believes in himself

The only person who has consistently had Osweiler’s back is ... well, it’s Brock Osweiler. He believes he is good enough to be a starting quarterback in the NFL.

“I think the proof is in the film for the past two years,” Osweiler said on a recent appearance on WKRK The Fan.

For the record, Smith didn’t agree.

Sure, players are doing drills in shorts and helmets at OTAs, but it’s refreshing to hear some praise for Osweiler from his head coach. Now Osweiler isn’t the only person to have said something nice about himself in recent memory.
