Is ‘The Bachelorette’ on tonight?

No. And it’s all the Warriors’ fault.

Under normal circumstances, on Monday night we’d pour ourselves oversized glasses of wine and settle deep into the recesses of our couches to watch The Bachelorette. This Monday, however, we will not be doing this, because ABC airs both The Bachelorette and the NBA Finals, and Game 5 of the Finals is tonight. So The Bachelorette has been bumped to next week.

This is all the Warriors’ fault.

If Golden State had just gotten their goddamn act together and swept the Cavaliers like they were supposed to, we wouldn’t be in this log-jam of a TV schedule. But the Splash Bros. couldn’t handle the fact that LeBron, Kyrie, and the rest of the Cavs turned into Monstars in Game 4 and dunked Golden State all the way back to California.

Follow our Warriors vs. Cavs StoryStream for the game’s best highlights, updates, and analysis.

To be fair, Friday’s game did have about as much drama as a typical episode of The Bacheorette, so maybe Game 5 will be as filled with as much juicy gossip as an episode of the reality show would. It’s also worth noting that Rachel Lindsay, the Bachelorette du jour, and Kevin Durant, the nuclear warhead the Warriors added to their death lineup, reportedly used to date.

However, there are bound to be millions of Bachelorette fans across the country who tune in at 8 and get pissed when they realize basketball is on instead of Rachel’s search for love.

I have a solution. There is one way to please fans of both leagues (The Bachelorette is a sport), and that’s to give Rachel court-side seats to Game 5.

Can you imagine? If it’s true that she did used to date Durant, it would be such a great Finals storyline to put her in his sight lines while he plays basketball. Hear me out: Remember when Rihanna made it very clear that she was rooting for the Cavs by bowing to LeBron? And then when her friend and assistant yelled out “BRIIIIICK!” during a Durant free throw?

Rihanna maybe got into Durant’s head (even though he wouldn’t confirm or deny it after the game), because he appeared to glare her down after sinking a shot. If someone he didn’t used to date (as far as I know) can seem to shake him up like that, I would therefore pay serious money to watch him try to play through the fact that his alleged ex-girlfriend — who happens to be one of the most talked about women in America right now — was sitting front and center.

Look, maybe this plan is super petty, but so is the NBA. So please, ABC: lean into the drama and give Rachel a ticket. It’s not too late, you’ll please both Bachelorette and NBA fans, and we’ll have something to distract us from the fact that the Warriors blew a 3-1 in the 2016 Finals with a unanimous MVP.
