The Ottawa Senators and goaltender Mike Condon have agreed to a three-year, $7.2 million contract extension, the team announced Wednesday. Condon was set to become an unrestricted free agent Saturday.

Another goalie is off the market.

By locking up Condon now, the Senators now have three goalies under contract for next season. Craig Anderson is the incumbent starter with one year at a $4.2 million cap hit remaining on his contract. Andrew Hammond is also around for another year at a $1.35 million cap hit.
Condon, 27, originally came to the Senators via a trade with the Penguins last year. He ended up appearing in 40 regular season games for Ottawa, posting a respectable .914 save percentage and 2.50 goals allowed average. He also came in as relief for Anderson in a pair of playoff games, and made 28 saves on 32 attempts.
It’s unclear what the Senators plan to do with their three goalies at this point. They technically could carry them all season, but that seems unlikely. And with all three no longer waiver-exempt, if Ottawa tried to reassign one to the AHL, it’d have to hope nobody claims him.
