It looks like Lonzo Ball does have some say in what goes down with the Big Baller Brand. Ball, himself, designed his signature ZO2 sneaker in a just a few hours.

In the video, LaVar Ball said there was no professional design team that made the shoe. Instead, Lonzo himself designed the entire thing on his own. The entire process in creating the shoe only took “three or four” hours, according to Lonzo.

When Ball’s signature ZO2 sneaker first launched under the Big Baller Brand umbrella, social media erupted over two things: The price point and the design.

The $495 sneaker seemed to take some inspiration from various Kobe Bryant signature shoe designs from Nike, while adding a sole to the shoe that used something similar to Adidas’ Ultraboost technology.

The shoe specifically resembles a Kobe 11 with ultraboost foam technology added to cushion its sole.

While Lonzo didn’t go as far as to admit he used designs directly from those sneakers, he did say he drew inspiration from different sneakers he liked.

“Yeah that’s fair,” Ball said when asked about the similarities to Kobe’s signature 11 models. “I just figured, I got I thought would be a nice shoe and the way it came out I was happy with it. So we released it, and I’m happy with the whole thing.”

At the very least, the shoe draws some sort of inspiration from the Kobe 10.

But if we’re being honest, there isn’t much wrong with that. Ball isn’t a professional designer. Coming up with brand new designs is a functional thing to do.

It seems like a natural thing for him to pull from designs he has seen previously here.

Also, let’s not forget that this is a 19-year-old that designed his own signature shoe. That’s a very cool thing.

The $495 price point is another story, but props to Lonzo for putting together a decent-looking shoe in a matter of hours.
