After completing a seven-player megatrade with the Yankees in which Todd Frazier, David Robertson, and Tommy Kahnle were all shipped out of town, the White Sox have officially called up top prospect Yoan Moncada from the minors.
White Sox call up top prospect Yoan Moncada after trade with Yankees
Chicago fans have been waiting for this day and now it’s here.

The team made the announcement late Tuesday night, giving fans what they had been waiting for pretty much since the team acquired Moncada from the Boston Red Sox for Chris Sale during Winter Meetings.
During his time with the AAA Charlotte Knights, Moncada had been putting up a line of .282/.377/.447 with an .823 OPS in 309 at-bats. He crossed the plate 57 times, and boasts 12 home runs with a side of 36 RBI. Not too shabby.
Moncada has been in the All-Star Futures Game two years in a row and is a highly anticipated addition to the White Sox roster after his performance in the minors.
When asked recently about being promoted, Moncada said,
“This is a process. I’m just getting ready for when the team decides to make that call. I will be ready for that call. I feel ready.”
At a shade over 28 percent, his strikeout rate is a bit high at the moment, and a injury to his thumb in May contributed to Chicago keeping him in the minors to develop longer, but now is his chance to impress everyone in the majors.
RHP Brad Goldberg will also be making a trip to the show from Charlotte alongside Moncada.
