There have been reports over the past few weeks saying ticket sales for the McGregor-Mayweather fight are low. Resale sites and Ticketmaster still have thousands of seats available for the Aug. 26 fight. However, Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweather Promotions CEO, doused the flames of those reports on Thursday, saying the fight was on pace to shatter the all-time boxing gate record.
Mayweather vs. McGregor: Mega fight’s ticket sales reportedly at more than $60 million
There are still plenty of seats available for this fight, but Mayweather Promotions believes the fight will sell out.

During Floyd Mayweather’s media workout, Ellerbe told ESPN.com’s Darren Rovell that the box office already collected more than $60 million. Mayweather also believes this big fight will sell out.
“And you tell me, what part of that remotely looks like ticket sales are slow. This isn’t a damn Rolling Stones concert. That’s the only thing that sells out in seconds. When you are talking about tickets going from $500 to $10,000, that’s an expensive ticket. So you have every CEO from every major company. You know, guys, it takes time to plan and get it together.”
Ellerbe also noted that the money the box office already made is “more than double” than what the Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin Sept. 16 fight will finish with. “All this is because of Floyd Mayweather. A little guy who, soaking wet, is 147 pounds,” Ellerbe said.
Vivid Seats, a ticket reseller, said $3,684 was the average price of a ticket on its website — as of Tuesday. Furthermore, on Thursday at 9 p.m., StubHub had more than 2,000 unsold tickets, and Ticketmaster had 2,797 seats remaining.
Mayweather isn’t a stranger to attracting huge crowds to his fights. The box office for the famous Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight in May 2015 amassed $72.2 million, which is still a record.
