Ha Ha Clinton-Dix honors 4 fallen police officers with their names on his cleats

Clinton-Dix says the tribute is in respect to families who lost their loved ones.

Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix made a statement with his shoes during Sunday night’s preseason game against Washington.

Clinton-Dix wore cleats with the names of four police officers who have died in the line of duty.

The four officers represented on his shoes include Orlando Police Sergeant Debra Clayton, who was shot in December, and Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Norman Lewis, who was killed in an accident during the manhunt for Clayton’s killer.

The two he added were Matt Baxter and Sam Howard of the Kissimmee, Florida, Police Department.

Last year, Clinton-Dix told ESPN he was pursuing his degree to help find peace and justice:

“I understand what’s going on in this world,” the Green Bay Packers third-year safety said. “But cops have to go home at the end of the day. They have a family. They have to go home, too.

“Growing up where I’m from, some people are afraid of cops. They don’t really like cops. And what a lot of people don’t realize is, they’re really not the bad guys. They’re really on our side, they’re really trying to help us out. And sometimes, we don’t understand that.”

Clinton-Dix also worked as an intern for Brown County Circuit Court Judge Don Zuidmulder in Wisconsin this summer to earn credits for his undergrad degree, according to AL.com.
