Restricted free agent Nikola Mirotic and the Chicago Bulls have agreed on a 2-year, $27 million contract, according to Yahoo! Sports’ Shams Charania. The move ends a prolonged stalemate just as training camp was set to begin.

The second year is a team option, according to ESPN’s Nick Friedell. Mirotic will also have the right to veto any trade in the first year of his contract, according to Charania.

The agreement comes after the two sides battled all summer on a new deal. Mirotic couldn’t find another team to give him an offer sheet, while the Bulls seemed unwilling to meet Mirotic’s price. But with training camp coming up next week, the impetus to strike a deal increased.

Mirotic has shown to be a talented but inconsistent player since arriving in 2014 after a decorated international career. He averaged 10.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in 24 minutes per game last season and should see an increase in minutes and shots with the departure of Jimmy Butler.
