Thursday Night Football between the Bears and Packers was delayed due to severe weather — particularly lightning in the area.
Bears vs. Packers delayed due to severe weather
Weather in the area forced the game to be delayed.

This seems like a good reason to pause the game:
The fans had to empty their seats as well.
The weather was expected to clear within 15 minutes, and both teams were getting updates every five minutes. It took a little longer than that, but eventually the teams made it back out. They both got 10 minutes to warm up before the game started back up.
The NFL’s rule on weather delays states:
If, in the Commissioner’s opinion, it is reasonable to project that the resumption of an interrupted game would not change its ultimate result or adversely affect any other inter-team competitive issue, he is empowered to terminate the game.
Fortunately, the delay wasn’t too long.
