BYU vs Utah State 2017 live stream: Start time, TV channel, and how to watch online

Who will win the battle for the old wagon wheel?

NCAA Football: Brigham Young at Utah State

Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

The BYU Cougars and newly minted starting QB Beau Hoge look to turn around their season when they go to play in-state rival, the Utah State Aggies. It will be the 87th meeting between the teams when they get together at 8 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network (live stream).

BYU is coming off a brutal stretch of football, having lost their last three games in a row after starting the season off with a win. BYU’s struggles came against some of the premier programs in college football. It lost to No. 13 LSU, in-state rival Utah, and No. 10 Wisconsin. The Cougars lost starting quarterback Tanner Mangum on the last play of their 19-13 loss to Utah. He was replaced by Beau Hoge, who threw two interceptions in a blowout loss at Wisconsin.

Utah State has had an up and down season with two blowout victories alternated with two blowout losses. Utah State looks to capitalize off momentum from its 61-10 victory over San Jose State. Utah State’s offense has been wildly inconsistent with two games over 50 points coupled with two games only scoring 10 points. The Aggies will need their offense operating at full capacity if they want to secure their first winning streak of the season.

Time, TV channel, and streaming info:

  • Time: 8 p.m. ET

  • Odds: BYU is favored to win by 6 points

BYU vs Utah State news

BYU will need Hoge to be more consistent and show off his big play ability. BYU will need big plays out of Hoge if they want to beat Wisconsin and hope to snap their three game loosing streak.

Hoge showed a big big arm with a few nice throws and runs, but threw a couple picks and gave up a safety after trying to extend a play. The best play of the day was a 50-yard toss to WR Micah Simon right before the end of the first half. Simon finished the day with three catches for 60 yards.

BYU is also counting on running back Ula Tolutau to continue his solid performance vs. Wisconsin.

Tolutau was good early, but Wisconsin’s defense quickly adjusted and held him to 58 rushing yards on the day (12 after the first two drives).

Kent Meyers and the Aggies are looking to start their first winning streak of the year and finally establish some consistency.

The Aggies looked to have built up some momentum after dropping over 50 points on Idaho State, yes the same Idaho State that beat Nevada this weekend. It was short lived though, because the Aggies got beaten senseless by the Demon Deacons this weekend. The Aggies have potential, but consistency is there weakness right now.

The Aggies win over San Jose State wasn’t as impressive as it seemed and might be a forbearer of struggles vs BYU.

The Aggies (Originally short for Agriculturalists ... seriously) dropped a 61 burger on San Jose State this weekend. Which is really only eight points better than the average amount of points that SJSU gives up, so not a huge whoop

BYU vs. Utah State prediction

You might not be able to tell by their record but BYU is the better team. The Aggies’ wins have not come against impressive teams. BYU will finally halt their losing streak in what should be an incredibly close game between two relatively even matched teams.
