Oklahoma State overcame a couple missed field goals and got a touchdown in the final minutes against Texas Tech to break a 34-34 tie and get a 41-34 win to keep College Football Playoff hopes alive.
Oklahoma State improves to 4-1 with shootout win vs. Texas Tech
A 41-34 win is actually one of the lowest scoring meetings of Oklahoma State and Texas Tech in a while.

Unsurprisingly, it was another shootout in Lubbock between two of the highest flying offenses in the nation. Saturday was the seventh consecutive meeting of the two teams that eclipsed 70 total points.
It was actually the lowest scoring meeting of the Cowboys and Red Raiders, and the first with fewer than 80 points since Oklahoma State’s 66-6 win in 2011.
Quarterbacks Mason Rudolph and Nic Shimonek each had more than 300 passing yards and Oklahoma State racked up nearly 600 yards of total offense. But the door was left open for the Red Raiders after the Cowboys missed a pair of chip-shot field goals from 19 and 22 yards.
Both chip-shot field goals were drilled off the uprights.
When Oklahoma State got deep into Texas Tech territory in the final two minutes, Rudolph didn’t leave in the hands of the kicker and ran in for a 16-yard touchdown of his own. He also finished with three passing touchdowns in the game, upping his season total to 16 through five games.
The loss is Texas Tech’s first of 2017 and the team’s ninth straight loss to Oklahoma State.
A 44-31 defeat at the hands of TCU last week dropped the Cowboys from No. 6 to No. 15 in the AP Poll, so the win will help Oklahoma State get back in to the mix.
