A last-second official review robbed fans of the perfect ending to Raptors vs. Warriors

It was the right call, but you wish they could have let this one go.

After clawing back from down 27, enduring an 81-point Warriors first half and 20-plus point performances from each of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson, the Toronto Raptors still had a shot.

There was one second left on the clock, and DeMar DeRozan had 42 points on the night. The Raptors were down three. There was no reason to believe he couldn’t tie it up and send it to overtime in front of Drake on his own home floor.

But DeRozan never got the opportunity. After half the players on the court went scrambling for a loose ball, it was initially ruled out of bounds on Curry. But officials reviewed the play and found DeRozan was out first when the ball touched him with three seconds to go.

The Warriors regained possession, and the Raptors had no choice but to foul. Golden State 127, Toronto 125.

This was the right call

Half DeRozan’s body was out of bounds when the ball first touched him. But had they never reviewed the play, the ending would have been seamless. One second left to go with the world knowing where the ball was headed: To DeRozan for a game-tying attempt.

Fans didn’t get to see the ending they deserved, and while it may have been the right call, this is one of those you just wish they let go.
