North Carolina’s Luke Maye left the game in the first half after taking a teammate’s elbow to the face

Tar Heel big man headed to the locker room for treatment for a cut on his nose.

With just over two minutes remaining in the first half of the Clemson-North Carolina game, Tar Heel big man Luke Maye went up for a rebound. He didn’t get the ball, but he did take a brutal shot to the face from teammate Kenny Williams’ elbow. The UNC trainers and head coach Roy Williams came out to tend to Maye immediately.

Maye went into the locker room for further treatment, and according to sources at the game, his dad went back as well.

Luckily, Maye was treated just for a cut on his nose and it doesn’t seem to be too serious.

The Tar Heels have beaten Clemson in Chapel Hill every time they’ve been — 58-0. Can the Tigers finally get a win?

UPDATE: Maye got five stitches and was cleared to play in the second half, entering at the 16:26 mark.
