No one seems to be taking the Pro Bowl seriously -- which is a good thing, since it’s a meaningless All-Star Game. That’s good news for Chargers cornerback Casey Hayward — it means he can get away with plays like this:
Casey Hayward’s interception led to some backyard football laterals at the Pro Bowl
This is exactly how fun the Pro Bowl should be.

Hayward’s third-quarter interception of Russell Wilson gave way to a 37-yard return, but not before some shenanigans could unfold. The cornerback, facing some pressure after reeling in a pass where no offensive target was even in frame, pitched the ball backward to Reshad Jones. Jones took the ball 13 yards to the opposite sideline before lateraling to Jalen Ramsey, who was finally pushed out of bounds near midfield. In all, the play needed three players who ran a combined 70 yards to create 37 yards of field position.
What this means for the AFC: The AFC needed this. The conference had fallen into an early hole thanks to costly interceptions from Alex Smith and Ben Roethlisberger. Hayward’s response sent a volley back at the NFC. LeSean McCoy crashed into the end zone five plays later to cut the AFC’s deficit to 20-17 midway through the third quarter.
