Rasual Butler, former NBA player, dies in car crash

Butler spent 12 years in the NBA. He died in a single-car accident early Wednesday morning.

Longtime NBA player Rasual Butler died in a single-car accident in Studio City, Calif. early Wednesday morning, along with another passenger who could not be immediately identified, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County coroner’s department confirmed to SB Nation on Wednesday afternoon. Butler played in the NBA for 12 years between 2002 and 2016. He last played in Ice Cube’s BIG3 league over the summer. He was 38 years old.

Butler had stints with Miami, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Chicago, Indiana, Washington, Toronto, and San Antonio. He averaged 11.2 points per game on 39 percent three-point shooting in his best year in the league with the Hornets in 2009.
