The NFL’s 5 biggest unsung heroes of Week 4

Let’s take a minute to appreciate lesser-known guys like Nyheim Hines and Kyler Fackrell.

Listen, we all love to talk about players like Khalil Mack and Aaron Rodgers. But every week in the NFL, there are guys who aren’t household names who still come through for their teams in a big way.

So let’s take a minute to give credit to the players who don’t usually get it. You might have heard of some of them, but if you haven’t, we’re here to show you why you should remember their names after huge Week 4 performances.

Kyler Fackrell had three sacks for the Packers in a shutout win

Kyler Fackrell has only logged five sacks since being the Packers’ third-round pick in 2016. That career total is now up to eight after he sacked Bills quarterback Josh Allen three times, all with just over 11 minutes left in the game.

That includes a nifty sack where he faked inside, then broke back outside to get by the right tackle.

The Packers were able to sack Allen a whopping SEVEN times in their 22-0 victory over the Bills. Fackrell, who was switched to the weak side in the fourth quarter, finished the day with four tackles and helped preserve the Packers’ first shutout since 2010. It was a dominant game for someone who hasn’t had many (if any) in his career.

Keke Coutee broke a record in his first NFL game

Playing with Deshaun Watson and the pass-happy Houston Texans has its perks. Coutee, the Texans’ fourth-round pick this year, finally made his NFL debut Sunday. He was struggling with a hamstring injury that made him miss a large chunk of camp, but he didn’t look rusty at all in his first NFL action.

In fact, Coutee set a record in his first game. His 11 receptions were the most in a player’s debut since the AFL-NFL merger:

When Will Fuller left the game with a hamstring injury, Coutee stepped up. In their opening drive of second half, Watson hit Coutee on all three of his targets for 31 yards — two of those receptions going for first downs. After that drive, Coutee continued to get more targets, including four catches for 34 yards in overtime of the Texans’ win. He finished the day with 109 receiving yards.

James White chipped in two touchdowns to get the Patriots back on track

The Patriots may have spent a first-round pick on Georgia running back Sony Michel — who got the first 100-yard game of his career Sunday — but it’s former undrafted player James White who continues to be an unheralded piece of the Patriots offense.

In the passing game, White diced up the Dolphins for eight receptions, 68 yards, and a touchdown.

White also scored a rushing touchdown as the Patriots rolled to a 38-7 win over the Miami Dolphins and helped them get back to 2-2. Somehow, even after he set a Super Bowl record against the Falcons with 14 catches and the game-winning score, White still doesn’t get his due.

Nyheim Hines had a clutch touchdown catch to help get the Colts to OT

The Colts envisioned fourth-round rookie Nyheim Hines stepping in as a versatile offensive weapon, and he showed that ability in spades to send the Colts to overtime against the Texans.

Hines finished the game with nine catches for 63 yards and two touchdowns. His second score didn’t just help the Colts tie the game up, but it should also appear on the next “You got Mossed!” section on Monday night.

Hines also added four carries for 10 yards. The Colts lost to fall to 1-2, but Hines has been an immediate contributor to their offense. Baby steps.

Mike Davis came out of nowhere to help push Seattle to victory

When Seattle used their first-round pick on Rashaad Penny, they envisioned him as their bellcow back that could help rejuvenate their rushing attack. So far, that hasn’t happened, but the Seahawks did find an unlikely source to tote the rock this week.

With Chris Carson dealing with a hip injury, Mike Davis picked up the slack. He ran for 101 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns, all career highs. His first touchdown of the day was an entertaining 20-yard run that put Seattle out in front early. Russell Wilson even got in the way of a Cardinals defender as Davis raced towards the end zone:

Davis also had four catches for 23 yards, but it was his huge game on the ground — something the Seahawks haven’t had consistently since Marshawn Lynch — that helped lead the way in their 20-17 win.
