The 2018 NYC Marathon was run on Sunday with an astonishing 100,000 applicants looking to run in one of the world’s premiere marathons.

In the women’s race Kenya’s Mary Keitany won her fourth NYC Marathon title, with reining champion and American Shalene Flanagan finishing third. Keitany finished in 2 hours, 22 minutes and 48 seconds, just 17 seconds off the record which was set by Margaret Okayo in 2003.

The men’s crown was taken by Ethiopioan Lelisa Desisa in 2 hours, 6 minutes and 14 seconds after and back-and-forth duel with countryman Shura Kitata. His time was over a minute slower than Geoffrey Mutai’s record, which has held since 2003. Reigning champion Geoffrey Kipsang Kamworor finished third, much like Flanagan.

The 26.219 mile course weaved through all five boroughs on a beautiful Sunday morning that greeted runners and fans alike with sunshine and temperatures in the low 50s, which kept runners cool for much of the course. Over the next few hours regular runners will be completing the course, but for now it was a magical event with amazing performances.

Live streams of the finish line are running on WatchESPN until 5 p.m. today in order to capture everyone’s finish.
