Luka Doncic keeps getting better and better. Literally. He finds new ways to wow fans every time he touches the floor.

This time, Doncic hit a cold-blooded step-back three against the Portland Trail Blazers that turned a two-possession game into a nine-point gap with just a minute to play in the fourth quarter. That shot basically ended the game, and there was little Portland could do about it.

What’s most impressive is how much space Doncic legally covers with his stepback move. Look at where it starts:

Now, look at where he’s pulling up from:

Evan Turner, where are you?

Doncic’s shot is one of many reasons why he was named the NBA’s Western Conference Rookie of the Month. He isn’t the most athletic, but he has a last step that sets him apart from the pack. He’s averaging 18.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists and a steal. If those numbers hold, he’ll be just the sixth rookie in NBA history with those averages. The others are Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Alvan Adams, and Grant Hill.

There’s one other thing: This guy is 19 years old. His game is well beyond his years, and he’s going to keep getting better with time.

Man, Mavericks fans lucked out.
