Miami Heat guard Goran Dragic will make his first career NBA All-Star Game appearance on Feb. 18 as Kevin Love’s replacement, the league announced on Thursday. Love broke his left hand in a Jan. 30 matchup against the Detroit Pistons and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks recovering. Dragic will play on Team LeBron as part of the first-ever All-Star draft.

Dragic is averaging 17 points on 44 percent shooting and 35 percent from downtown. He is one of the biggest reasons why the Heat have jumped out to a 29-22 record, good for No. 4 in the Eastern Conference and only a game and a half behind the third-place Cleveland Cavaliers. Dragic had been considered for an All-Star nod when John Wall got his minor knee surgery, but Pistons big man Andre Drummond replaced him.

Dragic is averaging 13.6 points and about five assists per game over his entire career. He has averaged 20 points per game twice in his 10-year career, once in Miami and once in Phoenix.
