American Ted Ligety will try and defend his gold medal in the alpine skiing giant slalom from Sochi on Saturday at the 2018 Winter Olympics. More from the Winter Olympics
The first run will take place at 8 p.m. ET and will be part of the NBC primetime coverage, along with several other events. The second runs are expected to be around 11:45 p.m., and should also be on NBC. Both will be live streamed online at NBC Olympics. FuboTV will have the NBC coverage for live streaming as well.
The giant slalom is one of the trickier technical events in the Olympics. It has fewer and wider turns than the slalom, which results in much faster speeds. Each skier makes two runs down the same slope, with the times added together. The fastest time wins, so scoring isn’t particularly difficult.
The course, however, can be, especially with the high winds at Pyeongchang of late. Anything can happen, so make sure you check out the action.
