Dennis Smith Jr., the skyscraping Dallas Mavericks rookie, will not stop until he dunks on the Golden State Warriors. Smith dropped 22 points on the Warriors on Thursday, including one dunk attempt that Kevin Durant blocked with maybe a single finger.
Draymond Green said Dennis Smith Jr. would never dunk on him, but Smith’s still trying
Green didn’t even try to contest this Smith dunk. So much for that!

This one very nearly went down.
Durant talked back, and Smith jawed with him some. It immediately brought to mind another moment in Warriors history, earlier this season, when Smith tried to line up Draymond Green and was fouled.
Well, let’s flash back forward to Thursday, and this was an actual thing that went down. It sure seems like a dunk, and that’s certainly Green in the vicinity.
Look, Green’s probably too late on his help to bother jumping here, so his non-contest was the smart basketball play to avoid committing an unnecessary foul. But maybe that statement about how Smith will never dunk on him was, uh, ambitious — we’ve seen that Smith’s reported 48-inch vertical doesn’t take mercy on any defenders, after all.
