Anthony Davis’s 25th birthday was on Sunday, and he brought it in the best way he knew how: By throwing a block party.
Anthony Davis had a triple-double with BLOCKS against the Jazz
Davis recorded 10 blocks in his first-ever triple double on Sunday.

Davis recorded a triple double with 25 points, 11 rebounds and 10 blocks in the Pelicans’ 116-97 loss to the Jazz. Six of his blocks came in the first half. He is the latest player to record a triple double with blocks since Hassan Whiteside did it in February of 2016, according to Basketball-Reference. Whiteside recorded four such triple doubles in a two-year span, and Davis joins a list of only 12 other players to do so this century.
Davis’s previous career-high was nine blocks, which he hit four times, most recently in the 2014-15 season. He also recorded eight blocks three times in the past and seven blocks once. It was also the first triple-double of A.D.’s career.
The achievement would have been much sweeter for Davis had he been able to steer his team to a victory in the process. New Orleans’ loss drops them into a three-way tie with Oklahoma City and Minnesota for the third, fourth and fifth seed in the West. Only four games separate the No. 3 seed in the West from the 10th.
But even though Davis didn’t walk away with a victory, he leaves Sunday’s game with yet another game in the best season of his career. Happy birthday, A.D. You deserved it.
