Dan Hurley doesn’t coach the Arizona State Sun Devils. That title belongs to his brother, Bobby Hurley.
Dan Hurley exploded with joy after finding out brother Bobby Hurley made NCAA tournament. Now he’s the only Hurley left.
Bobby’s Arizona State was squarely on the bubble, and nearly got bumped out by Dan’s Rhode Island. Now the Rams are the only Hurley-coached team left standing.

But given his reaction on Selection Sunday when the world caught wind the Sun Devils slipped into the NCAA tournament on the right side of the bubble, Dan might as well have coached Arizona State, too.
That’s because he exploded with excitement when it was announced his brother, Bobby, was headed to the Big Dance for the first time in his third season as ASU men’s basketball head coach.
The Rams loss in the A-10 conference tournament put them in the at-large pool of tournament teams, and knocked someone off of the bubble. Bracketologists postulated that one of those bumped teams could have been the Sun Devils.
Arizona State ended up being placed in a First Four game to play-in for the 11-seed. ASU lost the game, but Rhode Island beat Oklahoma in its First Round game. For now, the Rams are still dancing and Dan Hurley is the only sibling left in the tournament.
