Brandon Jennings almost had a triple-double in his season debut with the Bucks

Jennings is back, and he looks better than ever.

Brandon Jennings hasn’t played an NBA game all season. He signed with the Knicks last season, then negotiated his way to a contract buyout to sign with the Wizards and compete in the playoffs. He didn’t have any takers over the summer during free agency, so Jennings took his talents to the Chinese Basketball Association, where he dominated overseas to start this season.

For that reason, it could be easy to forget how dynamic of a player he once was. After all, he holds the rookie scoring record of 55 points in a single game.

On Monday night, Jennings reminded the league he’s not washed up just yet.

The 28-year-old point guard signed an end-of-the-season contract with the Bucks over the weekend, and in his first game back in the NBA, he nearly posted a triple-double off the bench to help Milwaukee to a much-needed victory against Memphis. He finished the game with 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field, along with 12 assists and eight rebounds. The Bucks outscored the Grizzlies by 10 in Jennings’ 22 minutes on the floor.

And here were a few of his dimes:

Sometimes home is where the heart is, and that just might be the case with Jennings. It was Milwaukee that drafted him 10th overall in 2008, and Jennings’ career just never was the same after the Bucks traded him to the Pistons for Brandon Knight.

Now, Jennings is back in his basketball home, and he flirted with a triple-double in his debut. The Bucks needed some help at the point guard slot, and at least in one game, they got it.

Jennings had those numbers against the Grizzlies, who have the worst record in the league. Let’s see what happens when there’s some playoff implications involved.
