West Virginia’s Sagaba Konate blocked a Villanova dunk so emphatically the ball almost exploded
What a dang block! Sagaba Konate stripped Mikal Bridges of more than just a ball with this destructive dunk. He took all that momentum and maybe a little bit of his spirit away.
The block happened in the middle of the second half as both teams fought for the lead. Knowing the team was down only two points, Bridges went for a thunderous one-handed dunk. The only problem was that Konate was there. And he was ready.
Just look at how clean this block really is. There was no doubt in Konate’s mind that this dunk attempt was going to be denied, but just take a minute to admire how clean that block is. With both hands extended, it doesn’t look like Konate touched Bridges as the Villanova star went up. In fact, the block is so beautiful that it looks like Bridges went towards Konate, just to give that block the added oomph — not that it needed it.
It didn’t work out as well against Eric Paschall, though.
