Karl-Anthony Towns set Timberwolves’ scoring record hours after Ben Simmons kept him up playing video games

Towns definitely had time, you’ll see.

Well, Karl-Anthony Towns definitely had time. On Wednesday, the Minnesota Timberwolves star set a franchise record with 56 points in a 126-114 win against the Atlanta Hawks, adding 15 rebounds and four assists on 19-of-32 shooting, and it’s all despite Ben Simmons’ bad influence.

Simmons cracked us all up when he told Towns that he had “plenty of time” while the two played PlayersUnknown’s Battleground Tuesday night, all because Towns was playing Atlanta the next day. Their exchange went like this:

Towns: I see you a PUBG master though, so imma let you be.

Simmons: Hop on man! Play one. You got time. Who do you play tomorrow?

Towns: Hawks.

Simmons: You’ve got plenty of time.

Man, Towns might have had, like, 75 if not for Simmons trying to keep him up all night playing video games. The joke wasn’t lost on Simmons.

Sorry, Hawks. This tweet didn’t age well.

Towns’ game was the fourth 50-point game in Timberwolves’ history, surpassing Mo Williams’ 52-point game in 2015, which was the previous record. Corey Brewer and Kevin Love were the other two. Here’s the shot from Towns that set the record.

Towns has to play PUBG the night before every game now.
