Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker will collide in one of the most exciting heavyweight matchups in recent memory. It’s rare the division gets to see two young, undefeated heavyweights square off on the big stage, but that’s what fans will be treated to on Saturday, live on Showtime at 5 p.m. ET.
Joshua vs. Parker weigh-in: Results and video
We have all you need to know to watch the weigh-ins for Anthony Joshua vs. Joseph Parker on Friday.
But first, the fighters had to weigh in, which in itself is always a big event. The weigh-in took place from Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff, the capital of Wales, on the morning of Friday, March 30. Joshua weighed in at 242.2 pounds and Parker at 236 pounds.
Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs) is hoping to add Parker’s WBO title to his collection, which includes IBF, WBA (Super), and IBO heavyweight championships. This is a unification bout, but Deontay Wilder is still in possession of the WBC belt, and many have been calling for a Joshua vs. Wilder matchup for some time. If Joshua, who is favored big time over Parker, can win Saturday, then a fight with Wilder could be on the horizon.
Joshua is coming off a TKO of late replacement Carlos Takam, but before that picked up his biggest win with an 11th-round TKO of Wladimir Klitschko.
Parker (24-0, 18 KOs) has more bouts, but less experience in big fights. He also owns a win over Takam, but looked lackluster in his majority decision win over Hughie Fury in his last bout. He hasn’t had many inspiring wins to this point, and Joshua represents a sizable step up in competition for him.
