Arike Ogunbowale hit an incredibly clutch, step-back jump shot with just one second left in overtime to deliver UConn its first loss of the season in Notre Dame’s 91-89 Final Four victory on Friday night. Where did she find the energy to hit the biggest shot of her entire life?
Arike Ogunbowale said she channeled Kobe Bryant’s ‘Mamba Mentality’ to beat UConn
She even wears Kobe’s number!

Kobe Bryant.
In her post-game interview, Ogunbowale said it was the “Mamba Mentality” that gave her the ability to hit the dagger shot to send the Fighting Irish to their third National Championship Game in the past five years.
“I know I just had to shoot it at the last minute. I mean, I didn’t want to give them a chance to get the ball,” she said. “I went into Mamba Mentality. Kobe’s here, so that’s what I had to channel.”
Ogunbowale also wears No. 24, which Bryant wore in the second half of his career. The Mamba was definitely watching.
Here is the video of the Irish star’s incredible game-winner against UConn.
Kobe doesn’t even play basketball anymore, and he’s still winning on the court. Unbelievable.
Bryant even tweeted about Ogunbowale after the game:
Arike was pleased.
Sports: sometimes very good.
