The Warriors’ comeback wasn’t just amazing, it was historic

Nobody has ever done what the Warriors did on Saturday night.

The Warriors became the 11th team in NBA history to come back from a 17 point first quarter deficit and won in the playoffs, but nobody did it quite like Golden State did on Saturday night.

After starting the game down 39-22, the Warriors went on a legendary tear to close out the final three quarters 93-47. You couldn’t even be blamed if you saw the first quarter score and decided not to tune in, assuming it was over. Just look at that graph — the overwhelming majority of games are over when a team has been leading by 17+ after the first quarter, but not this game.

Klay Thompson, in particular was feeling it. Not only did he go off for 35 points, including nine 3s, but he called his shot in the third quarter, when the Warriors were still behind.

This was definitely a game for the ages. Game 7 is going to be pure fire.
