Brad Stevens reading LeBron’s box score and laughing sums up Game 7

Except it’s not a joke. This is real life.

After his team clawed and clawed and came up short against one of the greatest basketball players to walk the planet, Celtics head coach Brad Stevens could only laugh at LeBron James’s monster stat line after he powered the Cavaliers to an 87-79 victory at the TD Garden on Sunday. It was Boston’s first playoff loss at home, and it was one that punched the ticket for James’s eighth consecutive NBA Finals appearance.

“I thought it was an outstanding defensive game,” Stevens said, “and again, he still had 35, 15 and nine. It’s a joke.”

Stevens continued singing the highest praise for James after his team’s elimination.

“He’s unbelievable,” Stevens said. ”We’ve played now until May 25 and May 27 the last two years, and we started on Sept. 25, and that’s every day. Like every day that you’re totally focused on this. And he’s gone past that eight straight times. It’s ridiculous. And he does it at this level, with the pressure, with the scrutiny, doesn’t matter. It’s just unbelievable.”

“Ridiculous” and “unbelievable.” Yup, those are two words that can be used to describe LeBron James. After watching his highlights from Game 7, what are yours?

How about “goat?”
