The next generation of American basketball players is very good, that goes without saying. But just how good are they in comparison to the rest of the world? Well, we’re finding out.
Team USA’s U18 squad defeated Team Panama by NINETY-TWO POINTS
The Bill Self-coached team is off to a really hot start.

The FIBA U18 Americas Championship 2018 tournament is underway, and Team USA found itself matched up against Team Panama in its second game. The U.S. dominated the Dominican Republic, 105-73, in the tournament opener. They went on to absolutely whoop Panama, jumping out to a 43-0 first-quarter lead and jumping ahead by as many as 93. NINETY-THREE!
Team USA finished with a landslide victory, 118-26.
Team USA is coached by Kansas head coach Bill Self and is comprised of — obviously — all players under age 18. The roster is made up of half incoming freshmen and half of the country’s top high school basketball recruits. That includes Cole Anthony — the son of former NBA guard Greg Anthony — Quentin Grimes, the guy you just saw posterize a defender in the video above; top Texas recruit and Kentuck commit, Tyrese Maxey, and several other talented, young players.
Team USA is now 2-0 and advances to play Puerto Rico on Tuesday. And judging by how Monday’s game wrapped up, well, the Americans should have this game in the bag.
