Kevin Durant is 0-2 against champagne bottles in the NBA Finals

Durant’s biggest opponent isn’t LeBron James. It’s a champagne bottle

Popping champagne is a signal of success, and there’s no success greater in the NBA than winning an NBA championship. The Warriors have won two, and Kevin Durant has been Finals MVP in each of them. So Durant has had his fair share of champagne experience as a result.

Yet somehow, someway, the Warriors superstar is still struggling with champagne bottles. It was so bad that during Golden State’s championship parade in Oakland on Tuesday, Durant needed assistance popping the bottle open while on the bus. It took him almost 55 seconds to finally get some of the juices flowing, and his teammate Quin Cook couldn’t help but cry laughing.

It’s not the first time Durant’s had troubles popping champagne bottles

Last year after the Warriors’ Game 5 elimination victory over the Cavs, the team celebrated with champagne at the parade, too. Here’s KD, trying to pop a bottle:

And of course, there was the time when he couldn’t answer questions postgame because he “drank too much champagne.”

It’s all fun and games, honestly. The only reason KD is in position to even struggle opening champagne bottles is because he’s pushed the Warriors to back-to-back championships.

But you can’t win at everything! Champagne bottles 2, Kevin Durant 0.
