Errol Spence Jr. successfully defended his IBF Welterweight Championship with a first-round knockout of mandatory challenger Carlos Ocampo on Saturday.

Ocampo, for someone that was given little chance in the bout, landed some hard shots early and did well to respond to Spence’s punches. But in the final seconds of the first round, Spence unloaded a left-right hook combo to the body that dropped Ocampo for the first and last time.

Spence is now 24-0 with 21 knockouts on his career. In the post-fight interview he said he was disappointed that he ended the fight so early, and that he wanted to give the crowd a good fight.

In the first bout of the Showtime card, Javier Fortuna took on Adrian Granados in a Super Lightweight contest. Fortuna controlled the action through the first two rounds and arguably won the third. Granados picked up steam in the fourth, and was assisted by the referee taking two points from Fortuna in the round — primarily for too much grabbing and a rabbit punch.

After those points were taken, Fortuna turned it on and started chasing Granados to salvage the round. He threw some heavy hooks, but an odd scene occurred when Granados put Fortuna’s back against the ropes, which were loose enough that Fortuna appeared to lose his balance and fall through the ropes, where he either hit his head, over-extended his neck or something similar to it, because he was immediately put in a neck brace and the fight was called off.

Because there were 10 seconds left in Round 4 and the judges cannot render a decision unless four rounds have been completed, the fight was ruled a no contest. In the post-fight interview, Granados implied that Fortuna was playing up the injury and that he thought Fortuna “played it off.”

The next bout was far less controversial and lasted a lot longer. Defending his WBA Super Bantamweight Championship, Daniel Roman convincingly won a unanimous decision over Moises Flores. Roman controlled the action for just about all of the 12 rounds, landing flurries to the body that were damaging and slowed Flores down.

Both fighters threw over 1000 punches in that bout, but Roman landed the more significant shots, especially to the body.

Below, you can find the round-by-round action from the main card and a full list of results under that.

Errol Spence Jr. def. Carlos Ocampo via KO in Round 1

Round 1: Spence trying with the lead right jab early. Both fighters are tentative early. Ocampo lands a hard shot to the body, and then Spence responds with one of his own. Spence faking with the lead right to see how Ocampo reacts. Right jab from Ocampo lands. Spencer lands a hard shot to the body, then another while holding the left arm of Ocampo. They separate briefly and Spence unloads two heavy, heavy body shot that drops Ocampo in the final seconds of the round! It’s a heavy, heavy shot and Ocampo is hurt. He’s down, and he can’t respond to the ref’s count. It’s over. Knockout for Spence!

Daniel Roman def. Moises Flores via unanimous decision (116-112, 118-110, 120-108)

Round 1: Flores winging heavy hooks early. He connects with one, hard to the body, and Roman blocks one up high. Roman responds in kind with a hook to the body of his own. Two left uppercuts from Roman are blocked, and Flores connects with a right hook. Roman lands a hook to the body. Hard left hook to the face from Flores. Left uppercut form Roman. Body shot from Flores is good. Nice, active round from both.

Round 2: Flores eats a pair of straights from Roman after he delivered a counter left. Both are just eating the shots. Roman is having trouble contesting the overhands from the taller Flores. Counter left ot the body from Roman lands, as does a straight left from Flores. Hard left to the body from Roman.

Round 3: Roman connects with two big body shots as Flores comes out looking to damage early in the third. Roman connects with two more hard body shots as Flores tries an overhand. Counter right over the top from Flores lands. Right uppercut from Roman lands. They both connect with multiple body shots. Counter left from Flores connects. Roman dances away from a big hook, and punishes Flores with a pair of body shots. Roman turns it up as the round ends, and did some real damage.

Round 4: Roman is keeping up the volume and Flores is looking like he’s slowing down a bit. Roman counters some Flores body shots with heavy hooks over the top. A lot of action in this round, but much of it was Roman fighting in volume and Flores missing.

Round 5: Flores lands a hard right overhand, and some good body shots. Roman keeps working the body and lands a hard right over the top. He’s ducking under Flores’ hardest shots, and punishing him as a result. Flores had a better round, but Roman still took it.

Round 6: Looping punches from Flores continue to miss, and he stumbles after a particularly big one. Roman with a hard hook to the body. Roman is dodging fewer shots at this point, he seems unconcerned with Flores’ output and is simply fighting his fight. It’s working.

Round 7: Flores continues to throw punches in a high volume, but Roman has done a good job of either walking through them or dodging them. Roman eats a counter left over the top, and multiple body shots, but Roman lands an uppercut in the exchange. Left jab from Roman lands a couple times in a row. Left hook upstairs and right hook to the body from Roman.

Round 8: Flores had some good moments in this round. He had a ducking straight right that landed flush upstairs for him, and he connects with a left uppercut. But there was also a lot more Roman working the body and everything else.

Round 9: Flores again telegraphing the overhand right to start the round. It’s just not going to land if he keeps throwing it like that. Missed uppercut from Flores. Left jab from Roman continues to land hard. Two hard left hooks to the body from both fighters. Not much action in this round.

Round 10: Hard left uppercut from Roman gets throug the guard. Then another. Then a straight left to the body. Flores is also working the body a bit, but Roman’s are harder, more accurate and are clearly doing more damage.

Round 11: Flores again comes out with that overhand right. Hard straights from Roman throughout the round land. Big shots to the body. Not a lot happening here, Roman wants to get to the end because he knows he’s winning.

Round 12: Broken record much? Flores coming in hard, Roman easily dodging, landing hard shots to the body. Flores in desperation mode, but nothing big lands.

Javier Fortuna vs. Adrian Granados ends at no decision (injury) at 2:50 in Round 4

Round 1: Granados takes the center of the ring and is immediately trying to work the body. Granados lands ac ouple nice shots low, and they tie up. Fortuna connects with a hard left straight, then a hard right to the body. Fortuna gets his back to the ropes, but tees off anyway and lands a nice punch of two in a lengthy flurry that Granados tries to duck under. Stiff left from Fortuna lands. They tie up, and are separated. Granadas tries a flurry as the round ends, but nothing significant lands.

Round 2: Fortuna connects with a hard straight early in the round. Fortuna is warned for holding too much. They both flurry and both land hard shots flush, with Fortuna landing a left uppercut and Granados connecting with a pair of strong jabs. Not a ton happens through the rest of the round. Fortuna seems to have Granados frustrated early.

Round 3: Granados keeps getting Fortuna up against the ropes, but Fortuna is letting him control that action and is throwing big flurries during. Two hooks from Granados land. Short left uppercut from Fortuna connects hard.

Round 4: Fortuna is deducted a point for rabbit punches early in the fourth round. He eats a right hand over the top and they go back and forth. Fortuna is running around the ring now, and he wings some massive hooks and does some damage. Fortuna gets ANOTHER point taken from him by the referee for locking up the arms, then some more hooks. Granados is backing up. Fortuna falls out of the ring and seems to hit the back of his head on the stairs, a camera box or something else, and he is hurt. They are quick to put a neck brace on, and get him loaded onto a stretcher. This fight is done. Granados was up against him against the ropes when Fortuna fell out. It’s unclear right now the official result. And now it’s announced as a no decision.
