The World Cup is ultimately an event that brings people together. That’s evident across stadiums in Russia, and it’s being proven for fans cheering along at home — even for fans who can’t see or hear the games.
Hero fans are signing Colombia and Brazil World Cup games to deaf and blind friends
Signing the game in real time is pure love.

Multiple examples of friends signing live games to their deaf and blind friends have cropped up over the past week, tying together friendship and their love of the game with a complex series of signals and a scale model of the field. Sky News detailed the relationship between two Colombian fans Monday, capturing the pure bliss that came with the country’s 3-0 win over Poland.
They weren’t alone. A reddit thread detailed the relationship between a trio of Brazilian fans, with one live-signing the game to his deaf and blind friend and another setting off the celebration once Philippe Coutinho found the back of the net to break a 0-0 tie with Costa Rica in extra time.
In both cases, these dedicated fans built scale model soccer pitches to convey every detail of the game. Through sign language and some intense focus, these heroes made sure their friends didn’t miss a minute of their national teams and gave them the chance to celebrate with the rest of the country.
