Paul George announced he’s re-signing with the Thunder on stage at Russell Westbrook’s party

What a way to make an announcement.

NBA Free Agency begins at midnight, and few names on the list are bigger than Paul George. George’s decision, though, has already been revealed: he’ll be re-signing with the Thunder instead of leaving for his hometown Los Angeles Lakers. And if there were any celebration big enough for this monumental decision, it’s the party Russell Westbrook threw on the eve of free agency.

Westbrook reportedly boarded an eight-hour flight from Hawaii back to Oklahoma City to host the party, and according to ESPN’s Royce Young, both George and Thunder staff were present. We’re not exactly sure if that’s tampering, since team officials technically can’t meet or speak with free agents until after midnight, but it appears George’s decision was already made. And he announced that decision to return to OKC on stage during the event.

“If y’all didn’t quite get it, let me say it again: I’m here to stay,” George said alongside Westbrook. “I’m here to stay.”

George will rejoin Westbrook, Carmelo Anthony and the rest of the Thunder who finished fourth place in the West with a 48-34 record before losing in the first round of the playoffs to the Utah Jazz. OKC might need to find a way to add more help around that Big 3, but the band is back again for another season.
