You wouldn’t know it based on, well, any period of NBA history, but the Golden State Warriors do have a local rivalry with the Sacramento Kings, who play just 90 miles up Interstate 80. The two franchises have never made the NBA playoffs in the same season since the Kings moved to California in 1985. Never! When the Kings are good (a rare occurrence, mind you) the Warriors are bad. When the Warriors are good the Kings are dreadful.
Kings get hilariously petty in congratulating the Warriors on Twitter
Sacramento gets wins where it can find them.
Currently, the Kings are very bad while the Warriors are winning championships.
That sets up this brilliant tweet satirizing a text message conversation between the Kings and the Warriors after Golden State won Trophy No. 4 on Friday.
From “a true Cinderella story” to “will your giant bandwagon be one of the floats in the parade?” this piece knocks.
Kudos to the Sacramento Kings social media crew for finding light in the darkness caused by the Warriors’ enormity blotting out the sun over Northern California.
