This is the story of an extremely brave casino dealer. The one who got Charles Oakley arrested at Las Vegas’ Cosmopolitan Casino for cheating at blackjack.
Some extremely brave casino dealer got Charles Oakley arrested for cheating
Still went down smoother than kicking Oakley out of Madison Square Garden

The 19-year NBA veteran and current head coach of the BIG3 league’s Killer 3s was charged and booked into the Clark County Detention Center after he tried “to commit or attempt to commit a fraudulent act in a gaming establishment.” TMZ Sports reports the act that got Oakley in trouble came when he tried to pull back a $100 chip from his bet once it became obvious he was going to lose.
Casino employees confronted Oakley, then consulted surveillance videos before calling in local police. He was processed and spent just a few hours behind bars before being released.
It’s not the first time Oakley’s been forcibly removed from a depressing arena where games break the souls of their players and leave them empty inside. He was ejected from Madison Square Garden last February and arrested after arguing with New York Knicks owner James Dolan, then fighting MSG security once he was asked to leave. He was charged with three counts of misdemeanor third-degree assault and one count of misdemeanor criminal trespass. While those charges were dropped nearly a year later, he’s still banned from attending games at the Garden.
It’s not even the first time Oakley has run into trouble in Las Vegas. He sued the Aria hotel and casino in 2011, alleging security guards there assaulted him in a “gang-style beatdown” after denying him access to a VIP section at the building’s pool.
Though Oakley has a reputation as a bruiser both on and off the court, he was arrested without incident Sunday. He’ll now face between one and six years in prison if convicted. According to TMZ, a source close to Oakley said “this is an insignificant matter that will be quickly resolved.”
